Let me know the results of your square foot garden.

I'm always looking for an easier way to garden, that's way I'm using the Ruth Stout method. I live in a townhome in an urban area and only have a very small amount of space and no soil to work with (deck built over a few years past) so I'm trying this technique call Square Foot Gardening. A Civil Engineer who became frustrated with traditional gardening/farming techniques created it (www.squarefootgardening.com). So far it's easy and I'm looking forward to testing this spring/summer.

Cheers, Rayhayreberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15064988574049128500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437717649538804956.post-58463311568589244472010-01-30T21:43:46.321-05:002010-01-30T21:43:46.321-05:00Hi Shelly, thanks for reading my blog. We do use manure, courtesy of the chickies, but if it weren't available we'd probably go the cover crop route as well. Right now, we're trying to rebuild farmland soil and after 5 years, we're beginning to see a difference in texture, richness and the number of worms. I've never tried a cover crop, so I'll be watching to see what your results are.

Hey Shelly...here's an article on cover crops for you.

http://www.organicgardening.com/feature/0,7518,s1-3-81-789,00.htmlAndreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14662745930080756613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7437717649538804956.post-501249714736709352010-01-28T21:39:34.084-05:002010-01-28T21:39:34.084-05:00I am really enjoying this blog.
